Carl (He's So Cute) and Nascar

The Nascar season started two weeks ago in Daytona and Matt and I are so excited that it is under way. Our favorite driver, Carl Edwards didn't do great in Daytona, he finished 19th. That was better than last year though.

This last weekend the race was in Fontana, CA. Friday practice and qualfying were rained out, Saturday they practiced for about twenty minutes and the rest of the day was rained out. The saturday Nationwide race was postponed and Sunday's Auto Club 500 was postponed after 87 laps and two big wrecks becasue of a wet track. So after trying to watch any type of racing for three days we were pretty frustrated. The remainder of Sprint Cup race for those of you who don't follow Nascar, (which I know is most of you) took place yesterday and it was AWESOME!!!! Carl dominated quite a bit of the race and won. It is the first time he has won there after having 6 top 6's in 7 races. I was hooting and hollering and Margaret and Parker now officially know that I am crazy.

The race that was supposed to take place on Saturday, the Nationwide race, started about an hour after the finish of the Sprint cup race and Carl raced in it as well. His car wasn't as good as it could have been but he finished 5th. Not a bad points day.

The women in our family don't call Carl by his name, we have a nickname for him, He's So Cute. Which was actually started to make fun of me for liking Nascar and Carl, but has stuck with him. And well HE IS SO CUTE!

Bathing Suit Shopping?

I know it is early for most of you to think about this, but in Vegas it is 70 today. I really hate to shop for a bathing suit, so I think I will order a couple of these instead of shopping. Let me know which one you like.

I must give credit to Erin for finding these. What a selection.

Fantastic Snowmass Vacation

We had our annual Snowmass skiing vacation last week and it was awesome. This was Kate's second year being able to come and she absolutely LOVES to ski. She was up and ready in the morning itching to put on her boots. She would cry when we picked her up from ski school if we wouldn't take her all the way to the top of the mountain so she could ski some more. I rememer being a bratty/ungrateful child and not wanting to take any more runs...I am so glad she is my opposite in this. Jason's son Nick came this year as well as all of Jen's kids and they would all swim and hot tub after skiing every night. It was fun for her to have lots of cousins there.

I actually skiied three days this year. Because of some health problems I have stayed in the condo with Grandma for the last three years, but this year I decided to try again. I am so glad I did. I had a great time and I was so happy to be out with everyone on the slopes. It was also a good thing I skiied, since Grandma wasn't feeling well and didn't make the trip. We missed her. Me especially since I usually get one on one Grandma time in the condo (We watch the dog show together every year).

Grandpa decided to do some tricks/head dive on Friday and cracked or brusied his rib (the doctor couldn't tell from the x-ray). I wasn't skiing that day so I got to pick him up from the clinic and spend some time with him (I made him watch Nascar qulaifying, he didn't even complain). We are grateful that his injury wasn't worse.

We had wonderful lunches and dinners all week at some of our favorite haunts in Aspen and Snowmass. It was great to spend time with family and to do something that eveyone enjoys (eating and skiing). I can't think of a better vacation and I am so thankful to be in the family I am in and have such wonderful grandparents. They are truly the best. Sorry to those family members who couldn't make it. It was a great week.

I also need to mention that Papa gave up his week of skiing to come and watch Parker and Maggie. It was so nice of him. And nice for Matt and I to know that they were being well taken care of. Thanks to him for making our vacation that much better. We love you.

Boys Boys Boys

Kate and her cousin Cami (Jen's youngest daughter)

So this morning Kate came into our room while still buttoning her shirt and I glimpsed a folded piece of paper in her pocket. I asked her what it was and she told me it was a note to her friend. I asked her if it was to a boy and she told me no. My kids are not good liars, so i kind of laughed and asked her again who it was for. She promptly named one of her girl friends at school and not being very sly she quickly walked out of my room. I followed her and when I went into her room she was in the corner taking the note out of her pocket and putting it in her purse. I went up behind her and wrestled it out of her hand and while doing so she says, "Okay Mom, it's for a boy." Shocking. So I took the note and read it. It went something like this. Aidan, I am sorry but I am not sure if I like you. I still like Cade. How many boys do you hang out with? It was actually very cute. She was embarrassed, but not too embarrassed to tell me that they write notes back and forth almost every day, he asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend and that was her response. I told her that she could tell me those things because I was in third grade once and I used to like boys when I was her age. She said to me, "Why didn't you tell me that, I could have told you about it then."

She is only 8 and in third grade and the boy thing is starting already. It kind of makes me nervous. And it makes Matt squirm with anxiety.

All About Me Tag

I was tagged by a mission companion, so now I have to do this...Thanks Stacy!!!

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning. B. Each player answers the questions about themselves. C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

10 years ago....I was living in Utah. I had returned from my mission the March before, met a nice boy named Matt,(who wouldn't admit to loving me) so I moved to Utah, got a job and took a nght class at BYU. Matt proposed in March and we will be married for 10 years this June. And boy does he love me. :)

Five things on my to do list today.....take care of Matt, he has had a really horrible flu for the past four days, make dinner, I don't know what yet. Finish a scrapbook layout for a class I am teaching at our local Pebbles in My Pocket, finish a thank you scrapbook for my inlaws from our vacation to San Diego over Thanksgiving, have Family Home Evening, I am so glad to have pre-made lessons to choose from.

Snacks I enjoy...Betty Crocker Fudge brownies (no other brand is quite the same), grape tomatoes, honey nut chex, raspberries, gummy coke bottles.

If i suddenly became a bliionaire...We would move to Southern California, somewhere near the beach and we would play all the time. Our kids would go to private school. We would have a great apartment in NYC. We would travel and see the world. I personally would have more than one car. We would invest.

5 bad habits.....I don't like to be hugged, I am sometimes too critical of others, I speak before I think, I love to spend money, I procrastinate doing the laundry (every time)

5 jobs I have had...law firm assistant, insurance assistant, accounts payable, Delta Airlines gate agent, Outback Steakhouse hostess

5 things most people don't know about me....1) I would like to go back to college and maybe on to law school 2) I have always wanted to live on the east coast, just for a couple of years 3) When I was a kid I wanted to have 12 children when I grew up 4) I love cars 5) I would rather watch sports than any other program on TV, I do draw the line at boxing and any type of wrestling.
