To Comment or Not to Comment

I'm wondering...When and on who's posts is it appropriate to comment? I love comments, the more the merrier. But do other people find it annoying when people comment on their posts. Or do you have to know someone really well to comment? I know I often want to comment, but don't. And I also look at blogs of people I knew ages ago and who I know know me, but I haven't talked to in quite some time. I'm curious, what do you think is appropriate comment etiquette? So leave a comment, I'd like to know what you think.

I love comments as well. I think it is a good way to stay connected with people. I haven't seen you or talked to you in person for ever and I love that we can stay in touch with eachother's lives through a blog. So feel free to comment on my very sporadic blog posts.

Love comments! Leave 'em. Leave LOTS of 'em...that's my motto (though I too have the same concerns as you and seldom comment when I feel the urge). :o)

I feel the same way, but then I think, I like when people comment on my blog, even people I rarely talk to, so go for it! Heaven knows I don't have time to keep in touch with everyone I would like to all the time so at least this way I can kind of catch up a little. I guess if they don't like it they can delete it.

A comment is validation, so I don't think it's ever a bad idea to leave one (unless you are going to be nasty). If you don't know the person, just tell them how you found their blog. I've actually become friends in real life with people because they commented on my blog and vice versa. It's kinda cool.

Also, you know that baby William of yours? He's so cute I want to die.

I second what Noelle said. comments = validation. so comment away until your little fingers can type no more. it has help me reconnect with old friends I had lost touch with.

and I'm with you on Willy-just reminds me of Willie Nelson. But Maggie is cute.

I am a comment leaver too! I don't see anything wrong with leaving them as long as you have had some association with them at some point. I know I don't know your family that well, but I love keeping in touch and knowing a few of the things that are happening in your lives. But I'm far from the expert... Let me know what you do find out about what it is proper.

I think comments are so fun! I never have time to leave as many as I would like on other people's but whenever I get one left on mine I LOVE it. I've had people leave them on my blog who I haven't seen in a long time and it still makes me smile to know they read it. I don't like people who I don't know leaving comments for some reason it's a little creepy. :)

I say go for it. What do you have to lose. Really, you should figure that they want you looking it and would enjoy hearing from you; or it would be private:)

Agree with everyone - comment. Even if you don't know someone well. If you can strike up a conversation with a stranger in line at a store then it is perfectly acceptable to comment on an acquaintance's blog.

comment on my blog ONLY if you've got something positive to say. Otherwise, I don't want to hear it. you know I'm kidding, but I'm kinda not. :)
